Gonzalo S. Deleon, 82, of Punta Gorda, FL, formerly of Donna, TX and Defiance, OH passed away February 1, 2015. He was the son of Guadalupe and Gumercinda Deleon, born December 28, 1932 in Matamoros, Mexico. Gonzalo retired from General Motors after 25 years of service. He was a 4th degree Knights of Columbus and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Punta Gorda. Gonzalo loved playing cards, fishing at nearby canals and creeks, and weekly family cook outs, and diligently volunteered at church. He enjoyed listening to Mariachi bands at Mexican restaurants. He will be remembered as a fun loving husband, and a supportive father to many extended family members through the years. Gonzalo will be greatly missed by his wife of 14 years, Beverly Pardo-Deleon; daughters, Petra andYolanda; step-children, Marcia (Jim) Hearn, Teresa (Kenny) Guillaume; sons, Marco (Terri) Pardo and David Pardo; brothers, Arturo (Mele), Raimon (Abrana), Celedonio;: sister-in-laws, Joan and Lile; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his step-son, Martin Pardo and brothers, Guadalupe, Reynaldo and Renato; sister, Eloisa (Paulo) Veloquio. A memorial service will be held at later date. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park, Weslaco, TX. Memorial donations may be made to American Diabetes Society, 4902 Eisenhower Blvd, Suite 295, Tampa, FL 33634.
