Gerald R. Gudmundsen, 74, of Punta Gorda passed away November 24, 2006. He was born March 2, 1932 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Rolf and Lucille (Edwards) Gudmundsen. Gerald served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was the owner of Jerry’s Kitchen in Forest Lake, MN and moved from there to Punta Gorda in 1992. Gerald was a lifetime member of the VFW and attended Friendship United Methodist Church in Punta Gorda. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 13 years, Diane; daughters Cheryle Atkinson of Balsam Lake, WI and Terese Husnik of Vinton, Iowa; step-daughter Diane Hunt of Fort Myers, FL; brother Dick Gudmundsen of Oak Dale, MN; sisters Dory Mulchay of Waite Park, MN and Nancy Carlson of Lake City, MN; aunt Dorothy Quay of Lake Placid, FL; mother-in-law Dorothy Lakan of Punta Gorda, FL; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Shirley and brother Donald. A memorial service in celebration of Gerald’s life will be 7:30 pm, Tuesday, November 28 at Friendship United Methodist Church in Punta Gorda.
