Gerald M Renirie

March 19, 1927 — July 27, 2019

Gerald Renirie passed away at home, under hospice care on July 27, 2019. With him were his daughter, his son and his nephew. He was born born March 19, 1927 to Frans and Marie Renirie, both first generation immigrants from the Netherlands. He graduated from Ford Trade School and enlisted in the Navy during World War II. He married Mabel Dennis, also from Detroit, while serving in the Navy. He lost his beloved Mabel in 2008, after over 60 years of marriage.
He lived in the Detroit Metropolitan area, working as a skilled machinist in small shops that supplied the auto industry. He then finished his career as a process engineer at Ford Motor Co. He retired in 1989 and moved immediately to Port Charlotte.
Jerry loved Jazz. He was a long term member of the Charlotte County Jazz Society and served on the board of directors for about ten years. He also volunteered for the the Charlotte Players theater company, building sets. He loved golf and played regularly. He liked boating and lived on the water. He was a talented craftsman enjoyed "makin stuff." He did major remodeling to most of his houses, and took great pride in his work.
Jerry will be remembered with love by his sister Yvonne Sprague, son Ron Renirie and daughter Pam Talcott. His first born daughter, Joy May, passed away in 2008. He was grampa to Steve May, Jami Lippens, Kelly Goodart, Michael Goodart, Alex Renirie, and Tess Renirie. His great grand children are Ben Lippens, Henry Lippens, Lily Lippens, Delaina May, and Kendall May.
He was a relaxed guy, very welcoming and accepting of others. He was a steady and reliable supporter of his children and grandchildren. Jerry and Mabel's house was widely known to be a warm and welcoming place by many people over the years.
