George Kellam Hudgins, Jr., 77, of Port Charlotte passed away October 8, 2006. He was born May 6, 1929 in Bayonne, NJ. He was the only child of Captain George K and Ruth Estelle (Winter) Hudgins, Sr. The family moved to the Panama Canal Zone when George was two years old. George served in the U. S. Army, and retired from the Panama Canal Company after 38 years of service at the Gatun Locks. After retirement the family resided in Mathews, VA then returned to La Chorrera Panama and seven years ago settled in Port Charlotte. He will be remember for his smile and playfulness with his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren which will be truly missed. 1. George will be greatly missed by daughters Flora Ruth (Tim) Pinkerton of Port Charlotte and Glenda Ann (Joaquin) Rodriguez of Panama; son George K (Jan) Hudgins III of Columbus, GA; eleven loving grandchildren Erin (Chad) Holbrook; Erin Pinkerton, Brad (Tira) Raines, Jeremy Pinkerton, Cody Raines, Ryne & Mathew Hudgins; JJ, Christina, Lisa & Gabriel Rodriguez; five great grandchildren Devin Pinkerton, Landin & Madison Raines, Nathan & Triston Holbrook. . He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years Gladys Portales-Gonzalez Hudgins in January 2006. A graveside service was Tuesday, October 10 at 2:00 pm at Indian Springs Cemetery.
