Gail Dowell Gibbs, Age 83, of Lusby, Maryland and Punta Gorda, Florida died on June 3, 2018. She was born on May 16, 1935 in Prince Fredrick, Maryland to Benjamin Chambers Dowell and Ethel (Schutt) Dowell. She attended public schools in Calvert County and graduated from Calvert High in 1953. Upon graduation, she and several classmates were hired in administrative positions at FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C. where they shared an apartment. During this tenure, she met and married Lawrence Gibbs on August 18, 1956. Subsequent to his tenure in the U.S. Army, they moved to Huntingtown and then to St. Leonard where they raised their daughter, Kelly who was born in 1962. Gail began working in the Calvert County Court house and held positions in the Treasurers Office, the Assessment Office and then in the Office of the Circuit Court where she retired as Chief Deputy to the Clerk of the Circuit Court. After retirement, she enjoyed her life in their home on the creek in Drum Point as well as vacationing in Florida. Upon the retirement of her husband, she resided in Punta Gorda, Florida. She is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence and survived by her daughter Kelly, daughter-in-law Jessica, step grandchildren Aidan and Austin of Punta Gorda and nephew Dean Dowell of Seminole, FL.
