Fred J. Perna, 81, of Punta Gorda, FL, formerly of Holmdel, NJ passed away January 10, 2016. He was the son of Joseph and Jennie Perna, born January 13, 1934 in Newark, NJ. Fred was raised in Irvington, NJ and was the owner/operator of T&P Auto Body in Irvington, NJ. He was the former owner of Isles Cafe, and current owner of Obees, Charlotte Harbor with his wife Barbara. Fred's most enjoyable job was being a bagger at Publix in Punta Gorda. He was a US Army Veteran and of the catholic faith. He was a member of the Punta Gorda Elks. Fred enjoyed going fishing and golfing. He loved spending time telling stories at family gatherings with family and friends. Fred will be greatly missed by his wife of 37 years, Barbara; daughter, Donna De Luca of Tinton Falls, NJ; sons, Joseph (Kim) Perna of Bayville, NJ and Dennis De Luca of Punta Gorda, FL; sister, Margie Ellis of Metuchen, NJ and grandchildren, Meagan, Dennis and Nicholas. He was preceded in death by his brother, Anthony and sisters, Catherine, Jane and Diane. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2 to 3pm, Tuesday, January 12, 2016 with a service to celebrate Fred's life to follow at 3pm at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services.
