Fred A. Addison, 88, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016. He was the son of John and Myrtle Addison born July 28, 1927 and lived his whole life in Punta Gorda. He had to leave to school as a young man to help support his family. Fred was a US Navy veteran. He was the original founder of the Smoke House on Cooper Street, where they still use his sausage gravy recipe. He wore many hats and most enjoyed being a father and proud grandfather. Fred always had a great smile and contagious laughter. Fred will be greatly missed by his sons, John (Danette) Addison and Allen (Mary) Addison; grandson, Aaron; brothers, Glen and Ray and sister, Ouida and cousin, Maxine Parker who was like a sister to him and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Melvin and Emery; sisters, Agnes and Eleanor. A memorial service to celebrate Fred's life will be held at a later date.
