Frank was born in Vandergrift, Pa on April 24, 1940, son of John Battista and Laurette, and graduated from Vandergrift High School in 1958, After High School, he joined the US Navy where he served two tours of duty as an Aviation Warfare Crewman in Anti-Submarine Patrol Squadron 11 (VP11) “Lovin 11” based at NAS Brunswick (ME). He also served several years in the US Naval Reserves with Anti-Submarine Patrol Squadron 68 (VP68) at NAS Patuxent River (MD). After an honorable discharge from the Navy, he pursued careers in the insurance industry and telecommunications. He retired as a project manager with Nortel Communications in Richardson, TX in 2001. After retirement, he continued working in various jobs including substitute teaching where working with special needs children became his passion.

Frank married Deb Notarnicola in October of 1985. They had one daughter, Laura Bari Notarnicola. Frank loved traveling especially where he could use his fluency in the Italian language. Frank’s parents immigrated to the United States in the 1920s and Frank’s first language was Italian. He was happiest when he could share stories about his time flying in the Navy with his squadron mates. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who was cherished by family, friends, and anyone who met him.

Frank requested that his immediate family gather at his favorite pub in Punta Gorda to enjoy his favorite drink, a Black-n-Tan, which took place on 11/27/2019. He also requested that his ashes be scattered from a Stearman bi-plane over the Atlantic. This request will be accomplished later this spring.
