Ferdinand A. “Fred” Bagley, 71, of Port Charlotte died September 2, 2006. He was born March 24, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Ferdinand and Myrtle (Hirsch) Bagley. Fred was a Chemical Engineer and served for 45 years, in various capacities, as a Volunteer Firefighter in New York. He was a member of many Fire Service organizations in New York and served on the Community Emergency Response Team after moving to Port Charlotte in 2001 from Spring Valley, NY. Fred was an avid bowler and was a member of Port Charlotte United Methodist Church. Fred will be greatly missed by his wife of 49 years Dorothy; daughter Doris J. Fletcher of Monroe, NY; sons Fred A. (Sandra) Bagley of Scotia, NY and James B. (Nancy) Bagley of Daytona Beach, FL; sister Bernice Campbell of Ronkonkoma, NY; and a granddaughter Amber Bagley of Scotia, NY. The family will receive friends 2:00 - 4:00 pm Tuesday at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services Punta Gorda Chapel. The service in celebration of Fred’s life will be 1:00 pm Wednesday at Port Charlotte United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Zipperer officiating. The family request memorials be made to The Fireman’s Home, 125 Harry Howard Avenue, Hudson, NY 12534. To express condolences to the family, please sign the online guest book.
