Eric Jordan Choken
March 13, 1987 – September 10, 2021
After 17 days in the hospital, Eric lost his life to Covid. Surrounded by his family and friends, he was withdrawn from all life support and passed quickly and peacefully on September 10, 2021.
Eric Jordan Choken was born on March 13, 1987, in Akron, Ohio and attended Nolley Elementary School in Manchester, Ohio.
Eric moved to Punta Gorda, Florida with his family in 2001. He graduated from Charlotte High School in 2006 and completed the culinary arts program at Charlotte Technical College.
Eric was a custodian for Charlotte County Public Schools. He worked at Sallie Jones Elementary faithfully for 15 years where he was loved by both staff and students. As one of his coworkers recently said, “to know Eric was to love him and to be loved.”
Eric took people at face value and loved them for who they were. He was never too busy to chat, check on others, or take someone a meal. He was kind, thoughtful, caring, and took a vested interest in people’s lives and their well-being. Eric loved playing video games, going to the movies, and being an uncle. His gentle smile could melt the hearts of those around him.
Eric is survived by his parents, Dave and Debbie; brothers, John (Jen) and Andrew (Anna); sister Rachael; nieces Michayla, Mckenzie, Claire and Lila; nephews, Austin, Rylee, Ethan, and Luke; and good friends Jake and Tonie Wilson.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at 11:00 am. Please reach out to a family member for details. In lieu of flowers and donations, the family asks that you live your life caring for others just as Eric did every day.
