Elmer A. Abram, 91, of Punta Gorda, FL former resident of West Seneca, New York passed away August 24, 2007 following a long illness. He was born February 2, 1916 in Buffalo, New York to Adolph and Bertha (Karchefske) Abram. Elmer served in the Army during WWII. He was the former owner of El-don Battery, Inc in Buffalo, NY. Elmer was a member of the Police Auxiliary in West Seneca, life member and past president of the Volunteer Fire Department and served as a fire commissioner. He was a charter member and life member of American Legion Post 735 and member of Am-Vet Post 8113. Elmer was also a past Republican Council Member. He will be greatly missed by his wife Dolores (Janik) Dragone; children Janet (Victor) Pond, Jean A. (John) Turner and Donald W. (Carol) Abram; step-children John (Trish) Glose, Camille (Sean) Hayes, Vincent (Janet) Dragone, Angela (Albert) Spencer and Joseph (Cheryl) Dragone; sister Ella (Carl) Engler; sister in law JoAnn Abram; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. Elmer was preceded in death by his previous wives Maureen (O’Neal) Glose and Dorthy Sisson; sister Edith (Al) Vacanti and his brother Arthur Abram. Local: A memorial service will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, September 8, 2007 at Punta Gorda Elks Lodge #2606. Northern: A memorial service will be 1:00 - 4:00 pm, Saturday, October 13, 2007 at American Legion Post #735 on S. Legion Drive, West Seneca, New York. Memorial donations may be made to Douglas Jacobson State Vererans Nursing Home for Alzheimer Unit, 21281 Grayton Terrace, Port Charlotte, FL 33954.
