Elias “Ray” Nunley, 77, of Punta Gorda passed away June 1, 2007. He was born June 16, 1929 in Lancaster, Ohio. Ray served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1953 and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was an Union Painter and was a member of the brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades, Local #368. Ray was a Life member of the VFW #8950 in Seabrook, MD and a Life member of the D.A.V. Chapter #82 in Port Charlotte. He will be greatly missed by his wife Dorothy “Jean” of Punta Gorda; children Elias Nunley, Jr. of New Port Beach, CA; Kathie Hubbard of Lancaster, Ohio, Zandra Earle of Bonita Springs, FL; Trina Martino of Melbourne, FL, Damian Nunley of St. Leonard, MD and Marcia Harmon of Seffner, FL; step-son Robert Dolina of Riverdale, MD; step-daughters Anna Middledorf of Hyattsville, MD and Tammy Hoffman of Port Charlotte, FL; step-mother Doris Nunley of Lancaster, Ohio; sisters Bertha Cochran and Pauline (Larry) Smith both of Amanda Ohio; Lavina Brown of Springfield, Ohio; brothers Donald (Jackie) Nunley and George (Linda) Nunley both of Lancaster, Ohio;sister-in-law Dottie Nunley of Laurel, Maryland; 20 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Ray was preceded in death by a sister Alice Ogg; brother Raymond Nunley and two grandchildren. A celebration of Ray’s life will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at Ridge Harbor Community Hall in Punta Gorda. Memorial donations may be made to help the wife with funeral expenses.
