Eddie Gonzalez, known as the "Urban Cowboy" passed away peacefully on Friday, November 5, 2021, in Englewood, FL.
Eddie was born on March 6, 1944, in New York City, NY to the late Eladio Gonzalez and the late Aurora Gonzalez Bota. Eddie was raised in "El Bario" (Spanish Harlem) and graduated from Commerce High School in 1962.
Eddie attained the rank of Eagle Scout and served as a Scoutmaster for BSA Troop 214 in Waterbury, CT. Eddie served as an Auxiliary Police Officer for the New York City Police Department and the Waterbury (CT) Police Department. Eddie's hobbies included painting, photography, and karaoke (DJ/Singer). He loved country music.
Eddie is survived by his wife, Elaine (Lainey) Gonzalez; his children Eladio (Jean) Gonzalez, Ruth Gonzalez, and Jacqueline (Reinaldo) Ortiz; step-children Thomas Torres and Maritza Torres; sister Delia Ramos; grandchildren Jessica, Manuel, Mikey, Melinda, Richard, Elizabeth, and Destiny as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Eddie was predeceased by his siblings Angel, Manuel, Judy, Sonia, and Elizabeth.
