Earl Goosby, 76, of Port Charlotte,FL passed away May 23, 2018. He was the youngest of twins born to George and Alice Goosby, on May 28,1941 in Hernando, MS. Earl graduated from Hernando Central High School where he sang with the Junior Tornados; he was a member of Second Baptist Church in Hernando. Earl retired as a surveyor for Brooklyn Union Gas of New York after 20 years of service. Serving in the church was Earl's great joy. He attended Iona College in New Rochelle, NY; graduated from New York Theological Seminary and Victory School of Bible Study. Earl served as Assoc. Pastor at Bethany Baptist Church in Jamaica, NY where he also sang in the Senior and Gospel Choirs, and coached the boys' basketball team. He was Senior Pastor of Jehovah Jireh Ministries in Jamaica, NY. He moved to Port Charlotte, FL in 2005 and taught Sunday Connection Groups, served as Deacon, and sang in the choir at First Baptist Church Port Charlotte. He also enjoyed fishing, bowling, traveling, and playing golf. Earl will be greatly missed by his wife of 35 years, Maxine; daughters, Michelle (Sarn) and Lisa; sons, Earl, Jr., Eric, and Russell (Brie); step daughter Dana; Goddaughter Jac-Lyn; sisters, Ida (Lawrence), Helen (Willie), and Frances; brothers, Edward (Ernestine) and George; 6 granddaughters; 2 grandsons; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and In-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Rosie Lee, Hattie, Cora, Margarite, Inez, and Alice; and brothers, William and Robert. The family will receive friends 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2018 at First Baptist Church Port Charlotte with the service in celebration of Earl's life beginning at 11:00 a.m. To express condolences to the family, please sign the online guest book.
