Dwaine R. Briggs

Dwaine Robert Briggs, 84, of Port Charlotte passed away March 15, 2007. He was born October 13, 1922 in Baraboo, WI to Harry M and Edith (Huntington) Briggs. Dwaine graduated from Baraboo High School in 1940 and attended UW-Madison where he was a member of the UW marching Band until enlisting in the Army Air Force the month following Pear Harbor. He served with the 29th Service Squadron of the Thirteenth Air Force in the South Pacific until October 1945. He joined his parents in the family business, Baraboo Fur House from 1946 until 1954 when he joined Sears in Madison, WI. He retired to Port Charlotte 1984 after retiring from Sears (East Towne) with 30 years of service. Dwaine enjoyed playing a Conn theater organ at home for many years as well as photography and the computer. Dwaine will be greatly missed by his wife of 61 years, Louise Martin., sons David of Port Charlotte and Richard (Lois) of Lake Arrowhead, WI; granddaughters, Kathy (Nate Larson) Briggs of Portland, OR and Karen (Dustin) Chitko of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Duryne (Arnold) Dahlin of Port Charlotte; sister-in-law Ila Arndt of Neenah, WI; nieces and nephews along with special friends Stanley (Sally) Brookins of Kettering, OH.
