Dr. Robert Earl Dickson, 79, of North Port passed away June 14, 2006 at The Abbey in St. Petersburg, FL. He was born January 11, 1927 in Cambridge, MA. He received his dental degree (DMD) from Tufts University in Boston where he was designated delegate from Tufts Honor Fraternity. Dr. Dickson was a dentist for the Navy in Newport, RI then in Argentina and Newfoundland before settling in Cape Cod, MA. After retiring, he moved first to Punta Gorda in 2003, then to North Port. He played Lacrosse at Wilberham Academy and Tufts University Club; he also enjoyed playing hockey, tennis, and paddle tennis. Other hobbies were playing Bridge, birding, camping and boating. He played the piano and sang for special events and to unwind at night. He was active in mind and body, and enjoyed writing funny poems for people’s birthdays. Dr. Dickson will be greatly missed by his wife of 3 ½ years, Catherine Plummer Dickson; daughter, Carol Dillon of Cannon, NH; sons, Craig Dickson of Cataumat, MA and Randall Dickson of White River Junction, VT; brother, Kenneth Dickson of New Hartford, NY; and grandchildren, Corinna and Adrian. He was preceded in death by his first wife and parents Dr Robert E. Dickson, Sr. and Ruth Dillon. Memorial services will be held at a later date in New England.
