Dorothy Roppel, 75, of Punta Gorda died Friday, September 24, 2010 at TideWell Hospice House, with her devoted son, Donald, by her side. She fought a valiant battle with lung cancer. She was born September 5, 1935 in Cleveland, OH. In 1996, Dorothy and her husband, Larry, moved to Punta Gorda. Dorothy was not a stranger to Punta Gorda; many years ago her grandmother managed the trailer park where Laishley Park is today. They enjoyed their retirement and their many friends. They were members of the Mariners of Punta Gorda and the Charlotte Harbor Yacht club. Dorothy's true love was Monday Mah Jongg with her cherished girl friends. Dorothy will be greatly missed by her children, Donald Fulton, David Fulton and Laura Fulton, all of Mentor, OH; grandchildren, Natasha, Domonique, Joshua, Cassia, and Ricky; step-sons, Michael (Debbie Redmond) Roppel of Mentor, OH and Steven (Debbie) Roppel of Upland, CA. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Malcolm C. Fulton and Larry Roppel. A memorial service in celebration of Dorothy's life will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, September 27th at Faith Lutheran Church.
