Dorothy A. Simmons

Dorothy A. Simmons, 84, of Port Charlotte passed away February 23, 2008 at her residences. She was born December 28, 1923 in Brooklyn, New York to Alexander and Matilda (Muller) Gray. Dorothy was a day cleaning clerk and a riveter during WWII. She moved from Staten Island, New York to Port Charlotte 3 years ago and was of the Protestant faith. Dorothy will be greatly missed by her daughters, Elaine Simmons of Portland, Oregon and Susan Laureno of North Port; sons, Richard Simmons III of Freehold, NJ and Glenn Simmons of Staten Island, NY; sisters, Carole Lewis of NJ and Ethel Troike of Port Charlotte; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard in 1986. Inurnment will be held later at Moravian Cemetery in Staten Island, NY.
