Donald Lingley, 69, of Stafford Springs, CT passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2012 in Punta Gorda, FL, surrounded by his loving family, after losing his 4 year battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was the son of Alvery and Hope (Phinney) Lingley, born April 24, 1942 in Edmunds, Maine. Donald served in the US Navy during Vietnam. He retired from Southern New England Telephone after 28 years of service. He was a member of the 2nd Congregational Church, in West Stafford. Donald volunteered for many years with the Telephone Pioneers, and with the Stafford High School Booster Club, where he served as President. Donald will be remembered as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, golfing, and playing poker. He will be greatly missed by his wife and best friend of 43 years, Cindy (Creath); daughter and son-in law, Stephanie (Lingley) and Nathan Eakins; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Amy Lingley; granddaughters, Carmen Lingley and Rachael Creath; brothers, Clyde Lingley, Earl Lingley; and sisters, Susie Kilton and May Berry and many other family members. A memorial service will be held in Stafford Springs, CT in May. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 7683 Santee Terrace, Lake Worth, FL 33467 or the 2nd Congregational Church, 197 W. Stafford Rd, Stafford Springs, CT 06076.
