Donald W. Kilps

Donald W. Kilps, 85, of Punta Gorda, FL formerly of Milwaukee, WI passed away October 15, 2010. He was the son of William and Gladys (Arnett) Kilps, born January 17, 1925 in Mosinee, WI. As a builder and land developer, he was a founder and partner of William Kilps & Sons Builders and Realty, Inc of Hales Corners, WI and former partner of Hale Park Lumber Co. Former President of Metropolitan Builders Association, (MBA) Milwaukee in 1963, President, Wisconsin Builders Assn in 1965, Lifetime Director, National Builders’ Assn, Chairman MBA Parade of Homes for 13 years, built featured home in 24 hours on Milwaukee arena floor for Realtors Home Show. Invited by President Johnson to the signing of 1965 HUD Act at the White House. President at American Cancer Society, Milwaukee County, Board of Directors at St Lukes Hospital, Milwaukee, WI, Board of Directors at Habitat for Humanity, Charlotte County, Building Committee Chair at Faith Lutheran, Awarded Diploma from West Milwaukee HS for Lifetime Achievements. Don was member of the Elks, Moose, former Conquistador, Very Poor Golfers’s Association in Lake Beulah, WI, Kentucky Colonels and a lifetime member of The Lutheran Church. He sang with the Men’s Choir at Faith Lutheran . He will be greatly missed by daughter, Kathy (Alan) Jacobs; sons, Grant (Jane) Kilps and Bill (Lori) Kilps; brother, Russell Kilps; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A memorial service in celebration Donald’s life will be 11:00 am, October 18, 2010 at Faith Lutheran Church, Punta Gorda.
