Donald Farquharson, 78, of Punta Gorda, FL, formerly of Peoria, IL passed away Nov. 30, 2017. He was born Feb. 15, 1939 in Buenos Aires, Argentina to Alwin and Elena Farquharson. He served in the Argentina Navy HQ Command as a Special Attach and had a role in Argentine Navy purchasing ships "Destroyer and Transport" from the United States. Donald worked as a Senior Editor in Global Translations Dept at Caterpillar Inc and retired after 33 years in 1999. He was a member of the Illinois Valley Yacht Club, Peoria, IL and of the Rugby Club Posadas Rowing Club, Argentina. Donald attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Punta Gorda. He enjoyed sailing, aviation, martial arts, firearms and target shooting. Donald will be greatly missed by his wife of 21 years, Constance J.; son, Ian Farquharson; step-children, Eric Hunsicker, Jane Johnstone and Charles Ratcliff; brother, Robert Farquharson; sisters, Elena M. Farquharson and Cristina S. Ansted; 5 nieces and 2 nephews; 5 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Roselyn Farquharson. A visitation will be held 9 to 10am, Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Larry Taylor Funeral with a funeral mass to follow at 11am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
