Donald Edward Spangler, 82, of Punta Gorda passed away April 29, 2006. He was born July 28, 1923 in Saginaw, MI to Walter and Bernice Spangler. Donald graduated from Arthur Hill Trade School in Saginaw, MI. He served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII in the South Pacific 1897 Eng. Battalion and awarded ribbons in the New Guinea Campaign, ribbon with two Battle Stars, wounded in combat and a sharpshooter medal. Donald was a life member of Salina Lodge #155 F & AM, Life member DAV Healy Lodge #117 and 32nd Degree Mason Valley of Bay City all in Michigan and Elks Lodge #2606, Moose Lodge #1693 and American Legion #0110 all in Punta Gorda, FL. He will be greatly missed by his wife Annette; sister Mary Lou Weadock of Venice; step-daughter Georgia (Randy Thorne) Forster of Ann Arbor, MI; step-granddaughter Alexandra Thorne of Ann Arbor, MI; brother-in-law Alfred Pumford of Gladwin, MI; several nieces and nephews. Donald was preceded in death by his parents; sister Ruth Pumford. No services are planned at this time.
