Dolores M. Ruhling

“The Family would like to Thank Tidewell Hospice Critical Care Nurses, Glo Thomas, Beverly Bell and Lori for the compassionate care they gave my mother in her last hours. They were surly our angels and our rock.” Dolores M. Ruhling, 85, of Punta Gorda formerly of St. Louis, Missouri took Jesus’ hand and entered into her eternal home on December 2, 2007. She was born June 19, 1922 to Frank and Mary (Hantack) Tikwart. Dolores and her husband Dr. Rudy Ruhling moved to Florida 15 years ago after her husband retired from the medical profession. She loved the Lord and enjoyed the sun, reading books, watching movies, going to the beach and working puzzles. Most of all she enjoyed sitting on the floor playing games with her great-grandchildren. Dolores was a member of San Antonio Catholic Church. Dolores will be greatly missed by her daughter/caretaker of 14 months Patricia (David) Daut of Punta Gorda; grandchildren, Michael (Katherine) Daut, Patrick (Sara) Daut, Shannon (Dr. Mark Bakalars) Bakalars of Wisconsin, Shannon Daut of Colorado; Dawn O’Keefee and Debbie Schmidt; great-grandchildren, David, Jessica and Christopher Daut, Sofia Bakalars, Kevin and Angie O’Keefee, Otto, Christian and Abby Schmidt; daughter-in-law, Judy Alcorn of Missouri; sister, Bernice Kutz of Union, Missouri. Dolores will be missed by her close friends, Robert Nagg of Punta Gorda and Peter and Linda Daut of Punta Gorda who also assisted in her care. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Rudy Ruhling 10 years ago and son, John Alcorn 5 years ago. A memorial mass will be held in January 2008. Inurnment will be in the Memorial Gardens at San Antonio Catholic Churchs. Memorial donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice and Palliative Care, 1144 Veronica Street, Port Charlotte, FL 33952.
