Denny Denson

Ernest Leroy “Denny” Denson was born December 16, 1921 in Fulton, Mississippi, the son of Elbert and Martha (Milam) Denson. He was raised on a farm in Hopewell, Florida, and served in the Navy on the USS Miami in the Pacific during WWII. He was an electronic tech for Sears Roebuck for 34 ½ years. He came to the Port Charlotte area from Charlotte, North Carolina in 1978 and was a painting contractor for many years here, and also had a lawn service. In addition to his love of cutting grass, he enjoyed spending time fishing and boating on the Peace River with his wife, Lib, and hunting. Denny was a member of the American Legion, and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Port Charlotte, serving as an usher and greeting everyone with a big smile and warm handshake. Denny passed away October 10, 2006 at the age of 84 and will be greatly missed by his wife of 27 years, Elizabeth “Lib” Denson; daughters, Ann (Randy) Ahrens of Punta Gorda. Florida; sons, Craig (Tony) Cooper of Cary, North Carolina, Wayne Cooper of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Tim (Cathy) Helms of Surfside Beach, South Carolina; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; and many friends.
