Dennis W. Hering, 73, of Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away on August 28, 2021, after a brief illness.
Dennis was born April 8, 1948, in Lorain, Ohio and lived there until 2011. Dennis was a 1966 graduate of Admiral King High School and proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, where he received many medals. He was an International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) member who owned D&H Electric and Edison Electric, retiring in 2011. Dennis was an entrepreneur who took pride in rehabbing old buildings in Lorain – taking run-down properties and turning them into apartment buildings. He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church and also a member of the American Legion Post 110 in Port Charlotte. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and his dog, Rosie.
He is survived by his daughter, Carlene Ortiz of Lorain; son, Kevin (Carrie) Hering of Lorain; four grandchildren, Alana, Kyla, Caid, and Connor; sisters: Jeanette Hering of San Jose, CA; Lynette Masony of Avon Lake; Pauline Babich of Lorain; Linda Kinder of Vermilion; and Kimberly Hering of Lorain.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, William (Bill) Hering and Alvaretta Hering (nee Sage); and brother, Paul Hering. Interment services will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
