Dennis M. Lyons

Dennis M. Lyons, 69, of Port Charlotte and Prudence Island, RI passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 24, 2012. Dennis was the son of James and Theresa (DiPierro) Lyons, born on September 6, 1942. Dennis was a graduate of the University of Rhode Island and played football for URI. He taught Physical Education at Pilgrim High School in Warwick for 30 years. He served in the US Army Reserves. Dennis enjoyed playing golf, following all sporting events, coaching at Pilgrim and recently watching his grandson Cody's football games. Dennis will be greatly missed by his loving companion of 22 years, Susan; son, Patrick; grandson, Cody; brothers, James (Jan), Thomas (Patricia) and Oliver and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Ellen Palmer. A memorial service was held in Port Charlotte and will be in Rhode Island at a later date.
