David E. Reid

David Edouard Reid, 29, of Port Charlotte, FL passed away suddenly into the arms of our Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010. He was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, May 12, 1981 to David & Suzanne (McKenzie) Reid. He graduated from Port Charlotte High School in 1999 and enjoyed a variety of jobs, including Sam's Club, Aqua Data and Circuit City. He strongly felt that he was part of the family with these companies and that each prepared him to realize his perfect niche in sales. For the last five years, David was his mother's best friend and "partner" in their family business, O'Connor Realty in Port Charlotte. David was well known and well loved by many. Those closest to him admired his love and caring for his extended family and friends, for the young, the old, his community, and his love of nature. He was humble, a jokester and an inspiration as he courageously helped others through the devastation of Hurricane Charley while suffering his own loss of home, office and father. His family and friends will miss his "gentle giant" hugs. His warmth reached far beyond his young years. Were he here, he would tell you "to move forward and enjoy life;" his own words just three hours before he left us. David is survived by his mother, Suzanne; a large and loving extended family, Godmother/aunt, Gisele McKenzie-Linscott and cousin as close as a sister, Angie Sue Linscott of Ohio; aunt, Helene (Andre) McKenzie-Benoit, cousins, Marylene (Simon Landry) Benoit, and Alex Benoit; aunt, Louise (Martin Vouligny) McKenzie, cousins, Sebastien (Caroline Jutras) Vouligny, Valerie (David Ribet) Vouligny, Sandra-Kim (Pierre Lamarche) Vouligny, and Beatrice Lamarche; uncle, Edouard (Elisabeth Vadeboncoeur) McKenzie II, cousin, Edouard McKenzie III; uncle, Denis (Lena Poissonnet) McKenzie, cousin, Maxime McKenzie; great-aunt, Yvette L'Heureux; and great-uncle, Charlie McKenzie, all of Canada. Aunt, Shirley (Aram) Hagopian of CT, cousins, Matthew Hagopian, of VA, and Thomas Hagopian of CA; aunt, Patricia Reid, cousins, Kathy Maurtani of HI, and Alex Murillas of AZ; uncle, Kevin Reid, cousins, Kirstyn Reid, and Kaitlyn Reid of CT; uncle Ed Torello of CT; and great-aunt, Julia Balazs of CT. David was also blessed with friends too numerous to mention. He was preceded in death by his father, David Cluhan Reid, Jr. in 2000; aunt, Donna Reid Torello in 2001; and paternal and maternal grandparents. The family will receive friends 6:00-7:00 pm on Friday, Nov. 19, 2010 followed by the service at 7:00 pm at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services. A Celebration of Life will be held at O'Connor Realty, 3083 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, 10:00-2:00 pm.
