Daniel Kenneth DuBois, 69, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away February 12, 2017 after a long battle with cancer at his home. He was the son of Herbert and Laura DuBois, born Feburary 1, 1948 in Walton, NY. After growing up in Arizona and upstate New York, he attended the State University of New York at Morrisville and served in the Army in Berlin Germany as a tank driver. Dan was a long time resident of Sherburne, New York, where he worked as a general contractor. He was a hard core marathon canoe racer who competed regularly throughout the North East in both one man and two man canoes. He had for example raced in the annual General Clinton 70 mile canoe regatta a total of 37 times. Dan was also an avid hunter. In addition to hunting both small and large game in New York, he hunted large game in Colorado, Wyoming, Canada and Africa. He is survived by his sons, Corey of Unadilla, NY and Keith of Denver, CO; brother, Donald; sister, Mary "Debbie" and Jeanette; 4 grandchildren and his fiance, Lucille Brown of Punta Gorda. Dan was preceded in death by his dad, Herbert; mother, Laura Hubbard; and wife of 41 years, Susan. A private service will be held. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.
