Cynthia Lurkens

Cynthia “Cindy” Lurkens, 56, of Punta Gorda passed away September 4, 2006. She was born May 8, 1950 in Grinnel, Iowa to Fred and Margaret (LaVent) DeVilder. Cindy was a homemaker and lab technician. She was a member of Twin Isles Country Club. Cindy was a golfer and the former husband/wife Club Champion of 2004 and 2005 at Twin Isles and former President Cup Champion. She enjoyed gardening and crafts and of the Lutheran faith. . Cindy will be greatly missed by her husband of 29 years, John; step-son Shawn of Cedar Rapids, IA; brothers Jerry DeVilder of Rochester, MN, David (Marjorie) of Brooklyn, IA, Sam (Judy) of El Dora, IA and Jeff (Sara) of Estero, FL; sisters Carolyn (Lyle) Roudabush of Grinnel, IA, Mary O’Conner of Cedar Rapids, IA and Chris (Steve) George of Cedar Rapids, IA; and two grandchildren. A gathering of friends and family will be 10:00 - 11:00 am, Thursday, September 14 at the Punta Gorda Chapel of Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services with a celebration of Cynthia’s life to follow at 11:00 am.
