Constance Jean Farquharson, 69, of Port Charlotte, Florida slipped away to be with Jesus, Wednesday, June 3, 2020. Born in Peoria, IL on Dec 29, 1950, to John and Dorothy Jane Verkler, she was the second of seven children.
Proceeding her in death were her parents, twin brother Thornton “Louis” Verkler, and beloved husband, Donald Farquharson.
Connie leaves three children behind to cherish her memory: Eric Hunsicker of Biloxi, MS, Janie (David) Johnstone of Peoria, IL, and Charles (Bobby) Ratcliff of Cedar Rapids, IA, and stepson, Ian Farquharson of Michigan, as well as seven grandchildren: Zachary Kirby, Connor Hunsicker, Philip Stoutenborough, Geoffrey and Aponi Butler, and Anna and Charles Johnstone, as well as many adoring nieces and nephews. Also, surviving are sisters: Veronica Verkler of Peoria, IL, Julie (Doug) Baughman of East Peoria, Anne (Leonard) Hilbert of Peoria, and brothers: John (Laura) Verkler of Pasadena, CA and Andrew (Sara) Verkler of East Peoria and family sister-in-law Betty Verkler of Sheboygan, WI.
Connie was a graduate of Peoria High School in 1969 and attended Western Illinois University studying horticulture. She continued her studies at Illinois Central College earning a degree in horticulture. She was an avid gardener and fantastic cook hosting many relatives and friends and sharing meals, hospitality, and lots of laughter. Her happiness was compounded by a love for sailing with her late husband Don. She was known for her sense of humor, deep devotion to her family, and her unwavering Catholic faith.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 10th, 2020 at 9:00 am at Johnson-Taylor Funeral Home, Punta Gorda, FL. Services will be held at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda, FL where she was a member. The Rev. Steven Olds will officiate. Burial will follow at the Restlawn Memorial Garden in Port Charlotte, FL.
A Celebration of Connie's amazing life will be conducted at a later date in Peoria, IL.
If desired, in lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.
