Charlotte Lenore Monroe Davidson, 85, of Punta Gorda, Fl., passed away Friday, April 22, 2016 at Charlotte Bay Front Hospital. Born October 25, 1930 in Omaha, Nebraska, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Lynn Monroe and Lillian Lucille Madison Monroe. Prior to relocating to Punta Gorda, Charlotte and Richard lived for many years in Des Moines, Iowa, and later in Red Oak, Iowa. Professionally, Charlotte was a trained Registered Nurse. She served in various capacities in church and community organizations. She was a life-time member of the West Des Moines United Methodist Church. For 50 years, she was a member of The Girl Scouts of America, serving as leader of a large and active troop of girls, and later as President of the Moingona Girl Scout Council. She was an active member of P.E.O. and a long-time member of the Questers Club. At the time of her passing, Charlotte was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Punta Gorda, where she had many treasured friends. Charlotte was an expert quilter, and made over 200 hand-quilted quilts that have blessed the lives of her children, grand-children, and many friends. Other hobbies included bridge, cooking, reading, and antiquing. Charlotte Davidson is survived by her children, Janelle Davidson (Michael) McClure, Douglas (Spring), Davidson Brian (Marcy) Davidson, and John (Michelle) Davidson; grandchildren, Lora McClure (Darren) Jones, Jonathan (Mira) McClure, Angela McClure, Daniel (Jenni) McClure, Heidi McClure (David) Munion, Andrea McClure, Emily McClure (Christopher) Fassett, Timothy McClure, Andrew (Shawnee) Davidson, Justin Davidson, Natalie Davidson, Rexford Davidson, Blake Davidson, Brise (Danielle) Walle, Lauren Davidson, Rex Davidson; 12 great- grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Sharon Monroe Neiderheiser and by her loving husband of 62 years, Richard Rex Davidson. A memorial service celebrating the life of Charlotte Davidson will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Punta Gorda on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 11am.
