Charles “Charlie” Wilson Fretz, 71, of Punta Gorda passed away November 7, 2007. He was born March 6, 1936 in Hatfield, PA to Wilson and Edith (Borneman) Fretz. Charlie graduated with a bachelor of science from Penn State and a master’s from University of Conn. Charlie retired after 15 years of service with Saudi Aramco as an assistant superintendent. He was previously a project engineer with Hamilton Standard and most recently was a realtor with Century 21 Sunbelt. He was a member of the Lee County Realtor Association. Charlie was a world traveler, an accomplished pilot, enjoyed fishing, scuba diving and skiing but his main passion was sailing which he did often including competitively with various sailing clubs. He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Jennifer Wilson of North Port, FL; son, Kevin Fretz of Wethersfield, CT; sister, Betty Lauman of Lansdale, PA; ex-wife and friend Noreen McCarthy of Punta Gorda and seven grandchildren. Charlie was preceded in death by his brothers Stewart and Ronald. A celebration of Charlie’s life will be 4:00 pm, Saturday, November 10, 2007 at the Punta Gorda Chapel of Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Larry Pope officiating.
