Charles Edward "Chuck" Butler, 83, of Punta Gorda, formerly of Shavertown passed away Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Tidewell Hospice. He was the son of Milton and Madeleine (Dwyer) Butler, born on December 17, 1928 in Ambridge, PA. Chuck had a long career in food service. He served in the naval submarine service on board USS Becuna (SS-319) in the Pacific and Asiatic theaters. Chuck was a member of the Submarine Veterans, American Legion as well as a life member of the Elks. He served as the President of the Northeastern Restaurant Association. ARC recognized Chuck numerous times for his various contributions. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Martha; children, Krys, Matt, Jay and Courtney; grandchildren Peter, Adam and Sam Conway, Georgie, Catelyn, Mackay and Charles Butler, and Spencer, Ella and Catherine Knolle and siblings, Sally Davis, Susan O'Brien, Mildred Pierre and Milton James Butler. A gathering of family and friends will start at 9:00 am with a funeral mass to follow at 10:00 am, Saturday, March 24, 2012 at St. Therese's Church in Shavertown.
