Charles “Chuck” Daniels passed away on his 82nd birthday on January 19, 2021. Chuck was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on January 19, 1939, and was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School. He joined the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Bluegill 242. Chuck joined the City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department and had to retire in 1980.
Chuck was a previous member of the United Methodist Church of Pleasant Valley, the Dutchess County Artist Association, Barrett House, and past Associate member of the Pleasant Valley Fire Department. After moving to Punta Gorda, Florida, Chuck became a member of the Elks Lodge of Punta Gorda, and the Moose Club of Punta Gorda.
Chuck was proud of his involvement in his community, including building ball fields at West Road School and co-chairing Pleasant Valley Weekends. He also participated in the 1st Annual Wappingers Creek Water Derby in 1971. Chuck was an avid golfer, card player and enjoyed playing the banjo or spoons for his fans.
He is survived by his children, Bambi Daniels, Michael Daniels, Keely Arico (Michael) and Kim Fischer (Scott.) Grandchildren include Lindsay Sherow, Dan (Lindsay) and Shayna Fischer, Cody Daniels, Stephanie and Heidi Grieger. Great-grandchildren are Hunter Kampfer, Michael Fischer and Madison Morano-Grieger. Chuck is also survived by many nieces, nephews and his brother-in-law, Wayne Gardner. He will be sorely missed by his dear friends and neighbors in Punta Gorda, as well as his many friends at Lone Oak Campground in Canaan, CT.
Chuck was predeceased by his wife, Glenda Daniels, as well as his adored daughter, Dianne “Dee Dee” Murtagh, and by his devoted mother, Caroline Daniels, and sister, Nancy Gardner.
There will be no services at this time. Arrangements are being handled by Johnson-Taylor Funeral Home in Punta Gorda, Fl.
