Carver C. Dumke

Dr. Carver Charles Dumke, 79, of Punta Gorda passed away July 8, 2006 at Charlotte Regional Medical Center. He was born November 27, 1926 in Beacon, NY to Dr. Albert and Thankful Dumke. Carver graduate from Admiral Farragut Academy, Tom’s River, New Jersey and the Merchant Marine Academy Ft. Schuyler, New York class of 1946. He was a graduate of University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry in Philadelphia, PA in 1952 and he served as a dentist in the US Navy, after which he practiced for twenty-five years in Beacon and Fishkill, NY. He served on the Board of Directors of Albany Savings Bank and the 9th District Dental Society of New York State and on the financial committee of Hopewell Reformed Church in Hopewell Junction, New York. Carver was a Master Mason and past president of Kiwanis Club of Southern Dutchess County, NY. He was a well-known sailboat racer and won many Lightning races along the Hudson River and Long Island Sound. Carver was a life member of Chelsea Yacht Club on the Hudson River and belonged to the Punta Gorda Boat Club, Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club and a active member of the Punta Gorda Canal Maintenance Board. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 55 years, Frances; sons Carver A. (Allison) Dumke of Dearborn, MI and Charles F (Celia) Dumke of Kingsport, TN; daughters Elizabeth (Mark McKee of Windermere, FL and Sara (Tim) Mero of Oak Hill, VA; ten grandchildren Kendra and Jonathan Dumke of Michigan, Evan and Alec Dumke of TN, William (Kim) McKee of Utah, Jeff and Sara McKee of FL, Brian, Ashley and Megan Nero of VA. A memorial service will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, July 26 at Burnt Store Presbyterian Church. Memorial donations maybe made to the charity of your choice.
