Carl J. Frank

September 22, 1962 — June 25, 2013

Carl John Oscar Frank, 50, of Port Charlotte, passed away peacefully early Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at the Port Charlotte Hospice House. He was of the Christian faith. He was born in Spain on September 22, 1962 to Carl J. and Beverly J. (Foster) Frank. Carl was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, whose gear he proudly wore. He was a former meat carver for the Port Charlotte Golden Corral. Carl's love and happiness shined during the numerous years he was a caregiver to many elderly citizens in our area. When his expertise was needed, he stepped up to be caregiver to both his maternal grandparents, then his stepfather; with the final person needing his loving care was his beloved mother who passed away one year ago leading to Carl's trial at independence. During his final year, although legally blind, he prided himself that he had his own apartment and was able to cook and clean for himself. He also made his own doctor appointments, scheduled his bus rides and his weekly shopping excursions that he looked forward to with anticipation to socialize with people. He was the tenant at his apartment building that motivated the residents to speak to one another when met in the halls, even if it was just a simple Hi. He also, upon seeing many magazines being placed in recycle bins, asked fellow tenants to place used magazines in a box, that Carl placed in the back lobby, to donate to a local retirement home. Carl was loved and fond memories will forever be cherished by his father, Carl J. (MaryJane) Frank; siblings, Robert J. (Lorrie) Frank , Laura C. (Hank) Gerow, Shellie (Ken) Carter, Charlene (Edward) Burlison, Timothy (Julie) Frank, Christopher (Shannon) Frank, Sharon Cunningham Matiska , John (Stacy) Frank, Kenneth (Christine) Frank , and Cheryl Frank; numerous nephews and nieces including great-nephews and great nieces. Carl was preceded in death by his mother, Beverly J. Cunningham in 2012 and his step-father of 35 years, Mansel Richard Cunningham in 2011. A family celebration of Carl's life was held on Saturday, June 29, 2013
