S. Carl Harpell, 80, of Punta Gorda passed away December 24, 2006. He was born September 3, 1926 in Stoneham, MA to Stedman and Clara (Moreshead) Harpell. Carl served in the Navy during WWII. He retired from Bath Iron Works Shipyard as a Director of Industrial Division. Carl was an elder at Burnt Store Presbyterian Church and was a Boy Scout Leader in Chester, NH and a Scout Liaison at Burnt Store Presbyterian Church in Punta Gorda. He was a life member of the Polar Star Lodge, a life member of Dunlap Commandery #5 Knights Templar, a Kora Shriners, AAOMS and Scottish Rite Bodies all in Maine. Carl was a former member of Governor’s Task Forces on advanced technology. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 56 years, Phyllis; daughters, Melissa Harpell Sharrett and Beth Harpell (Matt) Mueller both of Port Charlotte; sons Neal Stedman (Kimberly) Harpell of Port Charlotte and Mark Theodore (Susan) Harpell of Edgecomb, ME; seven grandchildren. Stedman was preceded in death by a brother Earle Harpell. A celebration of Carl’s life will be 11:00 am, Friday, December 29 at Burnt Store Presbyterian Church in Punta Gorda.
