Bradley L. Duckworth was the son of Rev. Oral and Juanita (Hawkins) Duckworth, born October 27, 1933 in Lansing, Michigan. Brad served his country in the US Army; he received his BS in Music Education from Taylor University in 1959. Brad directed high school bands and choruses in Indiana, Oklahoma, and Illinois and Okeechobee, Florida before moving Port Charlotte, Florida in 1970. He taught band and chorus in many of the middle and elementary schools. In addition to his school responsibilities, Brad enjoyed 22 years directing the Chancel Choir and Bell Choir for First Presbyterian Church, and another 4 years directing the choir for the Christian Missionary Alliance Church. He also served as interim choir director at First Baptist Church, Punta Gorda. Brad was a member of the Florida Music Educators Assn., and the Florida Bandmasters Assn. Brad enjoyed road trips, traveling around the country and visiting many states. In serving his Lord, "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the Word of Truth." (II Timothy 2: 15) was his life verse. Brad passed away peacefully November 23, 2009 at the age of 76 following a short illness. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 52 years, Sylvia (Hines) Duckworth; daughters, Ruth Ellen (Bruce) Davis of Port Charlotte and Lynne (Delbert) Gibson of Washington, Michigan; brother, John (Connie) Duckworth of Bradenton, Florida; sister, Barbara (Wayne) Pede of Lansing, Michigan; grandson, Jacob Gibson of Washington, Michigan; 3 nephews, 4 nieces, and numerous great-nephews and nieces.
