Bernard Lee Monroe, 78 of Punta Gorda, Fl. passed way on May 1st in the comfort of his home and surrounded his loving family. Bernard was born in Newaygo, MI to the parents Raymond and Edna Monroe. He was a long-time resident of Florida. Bernard owned his own flooring installation company. He enjoyed walking on the beach metal detecting, woodworking, camping, fishing and helping others thru the Moose Hart Program. He was a volunteer Fireman and Village trustee in Papineau, IL . He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Charlotte Harbor. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 23 years, Rita, daughters, Dawn (Kevin) Zelhart, Debbie (John) Martin, Kate (Tim) Foss and Angela (Craig) Gausepohl, Jennifer Roberson, and his sons John Haggerty, Jason Haggerty, and (Squeak) Bernard Lee (Pam) Monroe, Jr., brothers, Glen Monroe and Keith Monroe, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Services will be at First Baptist Church of Charlotte Harbor on Saturday, May 11th at 11:00am. Located at 4506 Church St. Pt. Charlotte Fl, 33980.
