Bernard F. Heaverly, Sr., 77, of Port Charlotte, Florida, former of Erie, Pennsylvania passed away on February 19, 2010 at home after a long illness. He was the son of Barney and Ella Heaverly, born July 5, 1932 in Erie, PA. Bernard was the owner/proprietor of Frontier Lanes in Erie, PA for 32 years. He was a member of the Elks Club, Moose Club, Wally Byam Caravan Club, the Erie Yacht Club, the Coast Guard Auxiliary, Erie Power Squadron, Punta Gorda Golf Club and the Port Charlotte Golf Club. He was instrumental in forming the Erie District Junior Bowling Association and served as its first president. He helped organize the Erie Junior Times New Open. Bernard is survived by his beloved wife Susan McCormick Hindman Heaverly; children- Sharon French of Erie, PA, Bernard F.(Rick) Heaverly, Jr. of Elkton, MD, Nancy Legler of Erie, PA, and Carla Oliver of Grier, South Carolina; 13 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his first wife Audrey Angelotti Heaverly, parents and sister, Mary Nick. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
