Arnold H. Heins, 87, of Port Charlotte passed away May 9, 2007 He was born August 20, 1919 in Lincoln, Illinois to John and Sophie (Filter) Heins. Arnold served in the US Army Air Froce during WWII in the South Pacific Theater. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor being on Hickam Field December 7, 1941, a member of the 5th and 11th Bomb Groups. Arnold had a special hobby and interest in building WWI model airplanes, one of which is display at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum in Washington, DC. He was a member of D.A.V., NW Homeowners in Port Charlotte and a member of Lutheran Church of Cross in Port Charlotte. Arnold will be greatly missed by his wife Helen; daughter Beverly (Larry) Lessen and Charlene (Ben) Lessen; brother Paul (Doris) Heins; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Walter and Carl and two great-granddaughters. A celebration of Arnold’s life will be 11:00 am, Thursday, May 17, 2007 at Lutheran Church of Cross in Punta Gorda with Rev. Kenneth Redmon officiating.
