Areta Yeager Futch, 88, passed away at home on Thursday, February 2, 2017. Areta, a native of Punta Gorda, was born May 3, 1928, in Arcadia, Florida to Edward Burnett Yeager and Areta A. Yeager. She grew up on East Marion Avenue in Punta Gorda and was a member of the Charlotte High School Class of 1945. As a young lady, Areta worked in various administrative positions in the medical field as well as in the Charlotte County Tax Collector's office. She had many good friends she enjoyed spending time with. Areta was very active in the First Baptist Church of Punta Gorda for many years and served as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher. She was also very active in the Punta Gorda Women's Club and Charlotte County Democratic Club. She is survived by cousins, Merrey Ann Pittro of Cape Coral, FL and Barbara Jean Britton of Fort Myers, FL; nephew, Richard Keith Eva of Cape Coral, FL. Areta was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Rippie and R.B. Futch A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at Indian Springs Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Punta Gorda or Tidewell Hospice, Inc.
