Ann Katherine Ridler Shearer

Ann Kathrine Ridler Shearer of Punta Gorda passed away peacefully November 29, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was born October 30, 1928 in Cleveland Ohio to Earl and Mary Ridler. She married Joseph B. Shearer in 1948 then moved to Buffalo to raise a family. After living in Buffalo N.Y for 30 years she moved to Houston Texas with her husband Joseph. In 1991 Joe and Ann packed their life into a 42 ft sailboat and sailed across the Gulf of Mexico to make a home in Punta Gorda. Ann and Joe were active members inboth the Punta Gorda Boat Club and the Iles Yacht Club and enjoyed many group sailing trips and adventures with these clubs. Ann was a prolific photographer and graphic artist. She was recognized and awarded many times in public showings. Ann was always ahead of her time and emailing and video conferencing with her family before anybody knew what email was. She will be dearly missed by her four children and family, Joseph (Susan), David (Kalee), Kathrine (Jeff), and Paul (Kelly), seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Joseph B Shearer. There will be a celebration of her life and memorial service 11:00 Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at the Isles Yacht Club, 1780 W.
