Ann Franklin-Coulter

July 25, 1928 — January 3, 2008

Ann Franklin Coulter, 79, of Deep Creek formerly of Wheeling, IL passed away January 3, 2008 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital. She was born July 25, 1928 in Kassel, Germany to Friedrich and Margarete (Kuchenbuch) Fuss. Ann survived the 90% destruction of Kassel in October of 1943 when 10, 000 people died in 45 minutes. She came to this country in 1948 as the war bride of Harold Earl Franklin and soon became an American citizen. Ann spoke both German and English fluently. She worked for USPS in Wheeling, IL as a window clerk for 22 years before retiring to Port Charlotte in 1988. Ann will be greatly missed by her devoted husband, Charles, her children, Rosemary (John) Rhodes of Downers Grove, IL and Ronald (Marie) Franklin of Buffalo Grove, IL; grandchildren, Scott (Polly) Rhodes, Jodi (Frank) Piekarz, Amy Rhodes, Ashley and Adam Franklin; five great-grandchildren; sister, Irene (Rainer) Schuetz of Fuldabruk, Germany; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins both here and in Germany along with long time friend of 50 years, Ursula Kolimus of Englewood, FL. No services are planned at this time. Inurnment will be at All St. Cemetery in Des Plaines, ILL at later date. Memorial donations may be made to Church of Good Shepherd, 401 Henry St, Punta Gorda, FL 33950 or Tidewell Hospice and Palliative Care, 1144 Veronica St., Port Charlotte, FL 33952 or charity of your choice.
