Andrew C. Sias

Andrew C. Sias, 82, of Punta Gorda, FL, formerly of Ridgewood, NY and Milford, PA passed away June 11, 2016 at Tidewell Hospice Arcadia with his wife, Merci by his side. He was the son of Andrew and Catherine Sias, born March 2, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY. He lived in Ridgewood, NY for 40 years, spending time at his vacation home at Gold Key Lake, Milford, PA before moving to Punta Gorda. Andrew served in the US Navy on board the USS Revenge, a minesweeper, during the Korean War. He retired from Verizon formerly the New York Telephone Company. Andrew graduated from Pace University majoring in Psychology. His family often called him "the comeback kid" as he overcame many serious health adversities with a strength that God gives to some blessed people. Andrew and Merci were fortunate to have 59 years together. They have three wonderful children, Andrew, Chris and Robin; a great son-in-law, Gary Dreuer; an amazing daughter-in-law, Holly Sias; and the joy of his life, his grandchildren, Hunter and Taylor Dreuer. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Merci; brother, Ronald (Ursula) Sias, John (Judy) Sias; sister, Millie (Joseph) Gibbons and Carol Sias and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Audrey Smith. Memorial donations may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, Punta Gorda.
