Alma Mae Miller, 95 of Punta Gorda, FL passed away July 22, 2016, holding the hand of Branon Edwards, one of her devoted grandchildren of whom she was so proudly. She was born on June 2, 1921 in Mount Airy, North Carolina, to Floss D. and Donie May Lynch, of Mount Airy, North Carolina. Mrs. Miller was a wonderful wife and mother. She married Robert K. Miller on June 4, 1938 in Jenkinjones, West Virginia, and the couple had 6 children together. Her final days were made comfortable by Tidewell Hospice in Sarasota, Florida. She lived most of her life in Anawalt and Welch, West Virginia, returning to North Carolina to enjoy her golden years, first in Asheboro and then in Oak Ridge, and did she enjoy them. She spent the last 8 years in Florida with her eldest daughter. She was active in the church, gardened, and cooked wonderful meals for family and friends. She also loved reading, sewing, and decorating. She worked in retail for twenty years, and taught Sunday School at both the Wesleyan and Nazarene churches. Alma treasured her friends, and she acquired them wherever she was at the time. She had a smile that would light up the room! Mrs. Miller is survived by her daughter, Janice Miller (Eddie) Edwards of Punta Gorda, Florida; daughter Brenda Miller Campbell, of Greensboro, North Carolina; son Larry A.(Karen) Miller, Sr. of Ocala, Florida; and daughters in law, Linda Miller, of Rocky Gap, Virginia, and Laura Seiss, of Alexandria, Virginia;11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren as well as great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert K. Miller of Welch, West Virginia; son, Bobby Miller of Jenkinjones, West Virginia; son, Roger Miller of Rocky Gap, Virginia; son, Gary W. Miller and his daughter Cindy of Alexandria, Virginia; and son-in-law, Roger Campbell of Greensboro, North Carolina. A viewing will be Friday, July 29, 2016, from 6 pm to 8 pm at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, 141 Smith Edwards Road, Kernersville, NC 27284. A funeral service will be on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 11 am at Shady Grove Wesleyan Church, 119 N Bunker Hill Road, Colfax, NC 27235, with Pastor Phil Kirkman officiating. The family invites all to celebrate the life of Alma Miller with them.
