Alfred J. “Fred” Deschenes, 77, of North Port, passed away June 20, 2006. He was born April 21, 1929 in the Dominican Republic to Joseph and Isabelle (Espinet) Deschenes. Fred was a graduate of Worcester Academy and Wentworth Institute of Boston and served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a metallurgist with Electric Boat until he discovered his true love of being a hairstylist owning his own business called Alfred’s Hairstyles for 25 years. Fred was a member of Knights of Columbus, Montville Rotary and Montville Lions Club. He was a long time parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church of Uncasville and an active participant of Lay Ministry Program which he devoted many hours to the Prison Ministry along with other ministries. Fred was a true “gentleman” and he leaves behind many cherished friends and colleagues. He will be greatly missed by his wife Noreen; sons Robert (Debra) Deschenes of Uncasville, CT and Joseph (Linda) Deschenses of Gales Ferry, CT; sister Dorothy Henshall of Punta Gorda; step-sons John (Pamela) Storo of Vernon, CT and William (Regina) Storo of Concord, NH; four grandchildren and six step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Maria. A celebration of Alfred’s life will be 11:00 am, Saturday, July 8 at St John's the Evangelist Catholic Church.
