"We would like to thank the nurses and staff at Signature Health Care for their help and support." Alejandro “Jando” Hernandez, 81, of Port Charlotte passed away October 20, 2009 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital. He was born March 15, 1928 in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico to Saturnino and Claudina Hernandez. Jando married Brunilda on July 31, 1965 and moved to Brooklyn, NY, where their children were born. In 1972 the family moved to Amsterdam, NY and upon retiring in June of 1994 the family moved to Port Charlotte. Jando enjoyed woodworking, gardening, playing dominos, caring for and raising canaries and mostly spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his generosity, integrity, love for all and kind heart, which were an inspiration to his family. "Papi...no words can describe how much you meant to us. You will always be remembered and adored as a wonderful man. We have so many great memories to share and remember you by. You are indeed unforgettable. We are so proud of the fact that you were a very kind, generous, extremely caring and loving individual. You touched so many lives and was loved by so many. Our hearts are broken right now but in time it is our prayer that thinking of you will bring us much joy, the same joy that you brought us throughout our lives" Viejo te queremos muchisimo y te vamos a extranar inmensamente. Jando will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Brunilda; sons, Alexander Hernandez of Amsterdam, NY and Eric (Aurora) Hernandez of Port Charlotte; daughters, Brenda (Julian) Serrano of Punta Gorda and Ivette (Angelo) Rosa of Port Charlotte; grandchildren, Nicole Hernandez of Amsterdam, NY, Ramon Martinez, Eric Cobian, Angelica Rosa, Kendall and Braydin Hernandez all of Port Charlotte and Jillian Serrano of Punta Gorda; great grandchildren, Alexis Hernandez and Steven Rodriquez both of Amsterdam, NY ; brothers and sisters, Arturo Hernandez, Guadalupe “Tita” Ramos, Dolores “Lola” DelaCruz, Basilia Bonilla, Miguel Hernandez, Victoria Calero, Claudina “Gene” Kercado, Irene “Iris” Ronga, Juanita Acevedo, Carmen “Gia” Colon, Daniel Hernandez, Saturnino “Junior” Hernandez, Margot Gomez, Maria Teresa Talavera, Augustin Hernandez, Mary Petito, Ray Hernandez and Tomas Hernandez and nieces and nephews.
