Albert M. Derks, 82, of Port Charlotte, FL passed away on September 27, 2019. He was born on November 6, 1937, to Albert and Jeanette Derks in Lansing. IL.
Al moved to Port Charlotte from Glenwood, IL retiring in 1992 as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a member of the Local 150. Al loved his family and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He followed Nascar and politics, often conversing about both. Al enjoyed working in the garage, the outdoors, birds, vintage cars and his dogs. He will be fondly remembered and missed by all that knew him.
Al will be deeply missed by his wife and best friend of 46 years, Shirley; daughters Debra Harrison, Lynda Reyling and Debbie Wilson; sons Thomas and Donald Derks; brothers Robert (Eleanor) Derks, Milton (Hassie) Derks and Richard (Cathy) Derks; sisters Helen (Hank) Dekock, Kathryn (Ed) Gritters and Janel (Carl) Regnerus; grandkids Jenny, Paul, Billy, Jason, TJ, Rachel, Andi, Valerie, Matt, Andrew, Sara, Scott and Brianna; and 16 great-grandchildren.
