Thomas G. Andrus

Thomas G. Andrus, 72, passed away on December 17, 2020 after a short illness. He was born on January 16, 1948 in Lock Haven, PA to James and Elizabeth (Capello) Andrus. He graduated from Lock Haven High School in 1965. He received his associate degree from Penn State University and completed his bachelor’s degree at Youngstown State University. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp and was a double Purple Heart recipient for his service in the Vietnam War. Tom spent his adult life working in the aluminum extrusion industry in various supervisory levels. After retirement, Tom enjoyed spending his time as a security guard at St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN.

Tom appreciated a good musical and historical movies and documentaries. He was a master at Jeopardy! and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  He was extremely handy, could fix or build anything, and was willing to help anyone in need. He enjoyed going to the beach to watch a beautiful sunset.

He was an active member of the Marine Corp League (South Bend & Gulf Coast), the American Legion Post 110, the VFW Post 5690, DAV, AMVETS, the Military Order of the Purple Heart, the Loyal Order of Moose, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca (Curtis) Andrus; his daughters, Lisa (Chuck) Daily and Alison (Shawn) Cox; his stepdaughter, Keri (Dale) Clark; his stepson, Troy (Cecilia) Pugsley; and his grandchildren, Keira, Vincent, Dominic, Conor, Spencer, Julia, and Jillian. He is also survived by his brothers, Jim (Kim), Dave (Audrey), and Chuck; his sisters, Vickie (Jack) Carty, Jackie (Robert) Heron, and Franny (Corie Purdey) Andrus; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services and burial at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. will occur at a later date. Arrangements are being provided by Johnson-Taylor Funeral & Cremation in Punta Gorda, Florida. Memorial donations can be made to Tidewell Hospice and the American Heart Association.
